Abamu, Edwards are SNEPCo Junior Tennis champions

Two-time champion, Martins Abamu, 16, from Lagos at the weekend defeated Tochukwu Ezeh, 16, from Anambra State, 9-6 to win the U-18 boy’s SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championship, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

In the game that lasted for over three hours, both players displayed brilliant performance, with Abamu struggling in the first 20 minutes of the match to curtail his opponent’s better rally.

Ezeh put in most of his energy into the game in the early part of the match, which worked against him in the later part of the match, as Abamu captitalised on his tiredness the tide.

Abamu, who displayed good footwork in the delivery of balls to the baseline, said after the game that he won because he was able to discover his opponent’s weak point.

“I was not expecting a win because my opponent is a good player. I have seen his game before, he play brilliantly.
