Aiyedatiwa: It would have been joyful for Akeredolu to see me succeed him

Aiyedatiwa

Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, disclosed yesterday that it would have been a thing of joy for his late boss, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to be alive to witness his emergence as governor after the latter’s tenure.

According to Aiyedatiwa, the late former governor had always considered him to be a worthy successor, insisting that it was his wish that he (Aiyedatiwa) emerged the next governor

He spoke in Akure at a media parley just as burial rites for Akeredolu began yesterday with a winning soul crusade at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure, the state capital.

According to Aiyedatiwa, “I am proud to say I am a part of Akeredolu legacies. It has been his wish that I succeed him. He said it on our first day of inauguration. During our Exco meetings, he repeated it severally.

“I would have preferred he stayed back and watch me govern the state. I know he will be proud of me.

“I trained under Akeredolu. He was a man who always says his mind on national issues. He says his thoughts not minding his pursuit. When he speaks, the nation will be at attention. We imbibe his qualities on governance.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa said the truth about the recent political imbroglio would soon be made public.

He revealed that he and late Akeredolu were best of friends but some persons pushed false narratives against them.
