The Ethnic Youth Leaders Council of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to the group known as Nigeria Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Council Worldwide (NENYLCW) to cease their attacks on the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, or face serious repercussions.

The Ethnic Youth Leaders Council, comprising the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement, Ohanaeze Youth Consultative Movement, Oduduwa Youth Movement, Middle Belt Youth Forum, and South South Consultative Youth Movement, expressed their unwavering support for Mele Kyari.

They praised his leadership, which has significantly contributed to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ in the petroleum sector.

The council’s statement came in response to a press release from NENYLCW, signed by Okwu Nnabuike, which called for Kyari’s resignation. Mallam Kabiru, speaking on behalf of the Ethnic Youth Leaders Council, condemned the NENYLCW’s position and labelled the group as “faceless and jobless,” alleging that it is sponsored by mischief makers intent on discrediting the current administration’s petroleum reforms.

The Ethnic Youth Leaders Council accused the NENYLCW of being driven by economic saboteurs opposed to the ongoing reforms under Kyari’s leadership, which have targeted oil theft and promoted stability and growth in the sector.

They emphasized Kyari’s efforts in discovering oil in Northern Nigeria and maintaining peace in the Niger Delta region, underscoring his commitment to creating a sustainable downstream sector.

The council vowed to counter any protest attempts by the NENYLCW, asserting their readiness to meet them on the streets if necessary. They also called on President Bola Tinubu to disregard the demands of NENYLCW and continue to support Kyari’s efforts in transforming the oil and gas sector.
