Gunmen demand N10m for release of abducted woman in Lafia

Gunmen, who Friday invaded the resident of the proprietor of Charis Learning Centre, Lafia and abducted his wife in the presence of the children have demanded N10 million as ransom.


The Guardian gathered that the assailants shot the husband during the incident that occurred at about 7:20p.m. on Friday at Danka community in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa State.

The husband identified simply as Mr Gonwalk is currently receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

He narrated that the kidnappers invaded their resident and demanded for his wife, who was preparing the family dinner that time.


He expressed shock over the violent manner they were shouting on his wife and decided to check what was going on.

On getting to the kitchen where the gunmen were forcing her, he decided to intervene and in the process they shot him on the hand.
While his wife was whisked away by the gunmen, the children were crying.

Gonwalk, who has lost so much blood to the gunshot injury, lamented that the kidnappers are making an outrageous demand of N10 million as ransom.

At press time, nothing has been heard from the abductors.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Namsel, said they are yet to receive such complaint.
