Katsina governor queries Emir over absence of District Heads at function

The Katsina State Government has requested an explanation from the state Emirate Council over the absence of some District Heads at the 2024 Idel-Kabir Hawan Sallah celebration.

In a letter signed by Saki Rabiu Jibia, Director of Administration and Supply Government House, the Governor’s Office directed the Emirate Council to provide reasons for the non-participation of some district heads in the celebration.

The letter, dated June 27, referenced a previous letter from the Emirate Council dated June 7, 2024, and requested a prompt response. This development suggests the state is keen on ensuring the participation of all stakeholders in important cultural and religious events.

The letter explained that Governor Radda attaches great importance to unity and cultural solidarity, and expects active participation from all leaders in such significant communal events.

“I am directed to seek clarification on why certain district heads didn’t partici- pate in the recent Eid-el-Kabir Hawan Sallah celebration,” stated Jibia.

The Hawan takes place on second day of Eid. During the event, the emir leads a procession of horse riders from the palace to government house to felicitate with the governor and pass on people’s messages and requests to the governor.
