Memorial Thanksgiving Service for Ojeagbase to simultaneously hold in Lagos and Atlanta today

Dr Sunny Ojeagbase was the founder of Complete Sports.

A memorial thanksgiving service will hold today, Monday February 26, 2024 in honour of the founder and executive chairman of Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspapers, SuccessDigest and other online publications, Dr (Pst) Emmanuel Sunny Ojeagbase.


The memorial thanksgiving service will be held simultaneously in Lagos, Nigeria and Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.

The event in Lagos will hold at the Success Attitude Development Centre (SADC), building at No 36, Esuola street, off Ago Palace way, Okota.

Organizers of the memorial thanksgiving service, the Mother’s of Nations Intercessory Group Fellowship says it is ‘in honour of our father, patron, an icon of faith and entrepreneurship in Nigeria’.

The service starts at 1pm in Nigeria and 7am in Atlanta.

Ojeagbase died extacly this date two years ago in Atlanta after a brief illness. He hailed from Uzebba, Luleha in Owan West Council of Edo state and broke into national consciousness as pioneer publisher of sports in Nigeria when he established Sports Souvenir, a weekly newspaper in 1984.


He cut his teeth in sports journalism as a stringer with the Daily Times newspapers in the 1970s and, through determination and hard work, he rose quickly and was appointed Sports Editor of Sunday Concord newspapers at inception in 1980.

He later became the pioneer sports editor of The Guardian newspapers in 1983.

He left The Guardian newspapers in 1984 to establish Sports Souvenir.

Ordained a pastor in 2003, Ojeagbase had a diploma in Journalism from the University of Lagos but was conferred with an honourary Doctorate Degree by a different institution for his accomplishments as an entrepreneur.

Ojeagbase also received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to sports journalism, publishing, business mentorship and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
